Catskill Ice Conditions 03-02-10

Hunter received about 72 inches of snow last week.  The Catskill’s are absolutely amazing to look at right now.  The climbing in some areas is great and others is basically non existant.  Asbestos is out, Palenville Corner out, Moore’s looks fun, the ravines are awesome.  I haven’t been into the notches because of the parking issues last week.  I broke trail to Buttermilk on Saturday with a couple of clients.  It’s in good shape right now and the creek crossing is easy with all the snow.  Yesterday I was on it again.  I would expect the creek to get worse as the week progresses.  The sun will be out and the temps up.  Get the ice  while you can cause it’s not going to last to long.
